This workshop will examine the role of an Occupational Therapist in improving the home environment, functional skills and safety of a person diagnosed with dementia who may be living alone, as part of a family, or within specialist supported housing. It will show how OTs can work in partnership to influence appropriate design in existing, new build and extra care housing.
It will focus and explore some of the design, adaptation and equipment options available in the private housing sector and the potential use of a Disabled Facilities Grant. It will also consider some of the challenges and opportunities for funding and support currently available within public-sector housing.
