Day One / 14th September
This is a joint session on housing issues. The first part dealing with the Dementia Housing Charter will be run by Wendy Wells .of Guinness Partnership.
The Dementia Housing Charter was published in March 2017 with the aim of encouraging the housing sector to improve their services for people living with dementia and their carers, including design, information and support. Wendy Wells will describe the steps The Guinness Partnership has taken to embrace the Charter and the challenges along the way.
The second part, run by Jeremy Porteus of the Housing, Learning and Improvement Network, will look at reasons why older people may not want to downsize and how we can help.
Further to the proposals set out in the government’s Housing White Paper, this presentation will draw on the HAPPI reports to showcase how ‘care ready’ design and technology can help future-proof housing for an ageing population and develop homes that meet the aspirations of people moving in later life.
